DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW


The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 2003 with an intake of 60 students and the Department has been recognized as R&D Centre by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, for carrying out Research activities. The Department has well experienced and dedicated faculty members with many active researchers who are involved in R&D projects. There are totally 14 faculty with an average teaching experience of 10 years, out of which 9 with Ph.D and remaining with M.Tech qualification.

The Department organized several Workshop, Seminars, Guest Lectures, Student Development Programmes (SDP) and Faculty Development Programme (FDP) periodically. The main focus of our curriculum is to impart technical knowledge and by using Innovative Teaching Learning methodologies.

We motivate our students to do innovative projects and find a solution to the problems in the real world. Our Undergraduate students are encouraged to undertake various Technical projects and internships in leading core/IT Industries. The alumni of the Department are well placed in many of the reputed industries/organization throughout the world.

Apart from this, graduated students are getting admitted for post-graduation to many reputed universities across the world. Our students are placed in good companies like Infosys, WIPRO, TCS, Accenture, Tech Mahindra and IBM.

Dr. Sunil Kumar K OBTAINED HIS Ph.D., from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, M Tech from Sri Siddhartha Institute of Technology, Tumkur, BE Degree from, R L Jalappa Institute of Technology, Doddaballapur. He has 13 years of teaching experience. He published/presented research papers in various national /international journals of reputed and notable conferences. He has presented more than 800 motivational/invited talks on various platforms. He has published 8 patents & one patent got a grant. He has written 6 books in academic & social connectivity also. He got a greater number of awards for his outstanding & outreach activities, in that he got the most prestigious “Eminent Personality Award '' on republic day 26/01/2023, from the government of Karnataka through taluk administration, Doddaballapur. He is the first recipient of Sri R L Jalappa Memorial Best Faculty award - 2023.He is an associate member-institution society for technical education. His area of interest is in materials.

Mechaincal Premier League Cup-2023.

A Mechanical Premier League cup-2023 was organized on 23rd December, 2023 by the Department of Mechanical Engineering department . This was a one day Cricket game for all Mechanical Engineering Staffs and Students of all semesters. Department of Mechanical Engineering organised One Week FDP on Advancements in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning for Mechanical Engineering.

The main aim is to conduct the FDP is to fill the gap between the Class room to corporate.Engineering arena is integrated and Industry 4.0 almost industries are automated. So we need to uplift the faculties thought process so we are organized this FDP to steer their career in the professional area successfully.
