The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering was established in the year 2001 In R. L. Jalappa Institute of Technology with intake of 60 students and then extended for 120 students in the year 2006.
The department has highly qualified PG with Doctorate qualification, experienced, dedicated and motivating faculty members. The faculty members have contributed in publishing research papers in reputed national, international journals and conferences.
The faculty members are also involved in participating and organizing National, International conferences, workshops, Faculty Development programs for learning new skills and gain good knowledge to meet the global standards.
The faculty members also invited for guest talk and as a resource persons for technical talks and symposiums and published many text books and filed the patents.
The department has smart teaching class rooms with facilities like projector and CC cameras and seminar hall to provide teaching learning process.
The Department is well equipped with full fledged lab facilities to meet academic requirement, it has department library, seminar hall, project lab with more than 100 advanced computer systems to facilitate teaching of VLSI lab, HDL lab, Computer network lab, ARM processor lab, Labview Multisim and Signal processing lab. Department also have discrete labs like Communication lab Analog Circuit lab to meet practical knowledge that students need to compete in global market.
Many of our students placed in core companies and software companies like IBM, HCL, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant etc. Some of our students completed doctoral degrees also.
It is proud to say our esteemed students are actively faced many competitive exams like UPSC, KPSC. Few of our students also became a successful entrepreneurs.
The Department motivate the students through forums like IEEE, IETE & ISTE as a platform to share the updated technology by the resource persons & meet the industry needs.

                                            The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at RLJIT organized an educational visit to the U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru. Students were exposed to India’s satellite design, integration, and testing operations, gaining insights into significant projects such as Chandrayaan-3, Aditya-L1, and SPADEX. The visit included guided tours of satellite models, payload assemblies, and the museum showcasing India’s space achievements. It enhanced students’ understanding of satellite orbits (LEO, MEO, GEO) and systems engineering. Interactive sessions emphasized practical aerospace skills, inspiring careers in space research. Recommendations were made for expanded briefings and greater engagement with URSC scientists.
 
                                            The visit to ABB’s Nelamangala campus showcased its advanced robotics, automation, and smart power manufacturing facilities. The campus supports diverse industrial sectors with a focus on Industry 5.0, integrating AI, robotics, and human collaboration. Highlights included the robotics manufacturing unit, demonstration center, and customer experience hub featuring digital twin simulations. Sustainability efforts stood out, with water positivity, renewable energy use, and green building certifications contributing to ABB’s environmental goals. The facility demonstrated increased productivity and efficiency through robotics and automation, reinforcing ABB’s position as a leader in modern industrial manufacturing and sustainability.
 
                                            RLJIT participated in the “Future Ready AI Summit 2025” hosted by CGI and Microsoft, focusing on AI advancements and enterprise solutions. Students and faculty gained exposure to Microsoft Copilot, Azure Foundry, AI agents, and responsible AI governance. The summit included diverse technical sessions, networking opportunities, and mentorship on AI career pathways. Attendees appreciated practical demonstrations of AI tools and industry-led insights. The event strengthened academic-industry collaboration, providing participants with knowledge and motivation to pursue advanced AI learning and certifications, thus bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world AI application.
 
                                            RLJIT’s faculty attended the IEEE workshop on "Advancing Innovation with IEEE Research Tools," gaining knowledge on platforms like IEEE DataPort and eBooks to enhance academic research. The workshop highlighted strategies for institutional data management, open-access publishing, and compliance with funding requirements. Sessions emphasized improving research visibility and NIRF rankings. Participants appreciated the focus on collaborative digital tools and their impact on scholarly excellence. The event underscored the role of professional development in advancing research capabilities. RLJIT plans to implement pilot programs utilizing IEEE resources to boost faculty and student research quality and accessibility.
 
                                            The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, RLJIT, participated in the NBA Awareness Workshop on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and Accreditation held at MSRUAS, Bengaluru, on March 22, 2025. Organized with VTU and MSRUAS collaboration, the workshop focused on understanding NBA accreditation processes, assessment methodologies, and continuous improvement in engineering education. Key sessions covered assessment of program outcomes, preparation of the Self Assessment Report (SAR), and NBA’s international recognition through Washington Accord membership. Participants gained valuable insights into strengthening academic quality and aligning curricula with global standards to enhance program relevance and accreditation readiness.
 
                                            Technology, Tumkur, on April 2, 2025. The quiz emphasized emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, cloud computing, and cybersecurity within various industry applications. Students engaged in multiple rounds testing technical knowledge, lateral thinking, and quick decision-making under pressure. The program fostered technical literacy, competitive skills, and institutional visibility. Notably, one student won a consolation prize, reflecting the team’s preparedness and enthusiasm. The event provided valuable experience and motivation to thrive in future technology-driven careers.
